Arsenal's Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Elneny said on Sunday he would remain at the Emirates Stadium next season, ending speculations surrounding his future with the Gunners.

"I will stay at Arsenal," Elneny told BeIN sports on Sunday.

The Egyptian international helped his side win the Community Shield following a 4-1 win over Chelsea on penalties on Sunday.

Elneny gave a convincing performance during the full 90 minutes of the game. He could have also scored on the 59th minute, though his cross-cum-shot was superbly tipped over by Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois.

"I am very happy with my performance against Chelsea," Elneny said.

"I had the desire to prove my worth and to confirm my capacity to play with a big club like Arsenal."

Elneny's fate with Arsenal was uncertain, as several reports suggested that the Premier League side had no intention to keep the Egyptian midfielder in their squad next season.

Turkish media reported last week that Turkish giants Galatasaray were in talks with Arsenal over a possible move for Elneny.

English newspaper The Sun had also reported that Arsenal accepted a £10 million offer from Leicester City to lure the Egyptian midfielder, though Elneny turned down the offer, opting to stay with Arsenal despite his lack of play time.

The 25-year-old Elneny, who joined Arsenal in January 2016, struggled to play regular football with the Gunners last season, making 12 starts in all competitions.
