Liverpool's Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah said on Tuesday he is excited to start the Champions League games at Anfield, asking his teammates to put their disappointing defeat by Manchester City behind them and to look forward to the future.

The Reds, who slumped to an embarrassing 5-0 loss to Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday, will start their Champions League group-stage campaign on Wednesday when they host Spanish side Sevilla.

"I'm very, very excited to start the Champions League games at Anfield. I would like to win that game," Salah told Liverpool's official website on Tuesday.

"We have to look forward to the next game, forget that result and play like before."

The 25-year-old said he is very happy with his fine start at Liverpool, highlighting the important role of his teammates who helped him quickly adapt to the new surroundings.

Since making a switch from Roma this summer, Salah has scored three goals in his first six matches with the Reds.

"I'm very happy to have this start with the team and to help the team win points and win games," he added.

"I'm very happy to be here, it's like my family. I'm happy to be [at] the club with these players"
