Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry met on Wednesday with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ghandour to discuss bilateral relations on the sidelines of the Arab League’s meeting of foreign ministers in Cairo, the Egyptian foreign ministry said in a statement.

Shoukry told Ghandour that Egypt is keen on removing any obstacle to sound bilateral relations between the two countries.

On Monday, Sudan’s ambassador to Egypt returned to Cairo nearly two months after he was recalled to Khartoum amid heightened tensions between the two nations.

Shoukry and Ghandour also discussed the latest developments in the talks on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and the upcoming round of talks on the issue in Addis Ababa.

The two FMs also discussed the latest developments in South Sudan.
