Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry has expressed delight after Tuesday's Egyptian Premiere League win over Wadi Degla, insisting that the team is still searching for new records despite the early win of the title.

"I am happy with the result. I want to thank the players for their effort in the game," El-Badry was quoted as saying by the club's official website.

"We had many changes in different positions in the field to give a chance to some new faces," he added.

Ahly, who have already secured the league title for the third time in a row with six weeks to spare last month, defeated Degla to repeat their record of the 2005/2006 season, when they defeated all their league opponents in the same season.

"After securing the league title, we have other important targets like the Egypt Cup title, and also to proceed at the African Champions league group stage," the coach explained.

"We also want to continue our search for new records through points and scored goals. Despite the early deciding of the title, the players are fully committed and determined to winning the remaining matches," he added.

Ahly defeated Ittihad of Alexandria, Ragaa, El-Entag El-Harby, Ismaily, Dakhlya, Masry, Enppi, Assiouty Sports, Maqassa, Smouha, Petrojet Nasr, Zamalek, Arab Contractors in this season's first round before adding Tanta, Talae El-Geish and Wadi Degla to the list in the second term.

With only three matches remaining before the end of the season, Ahly are on top with 82 points, a massive 22 ahead of second-placed Ismaily, who played one game less.

Ahly is on the verge of breaking the record of most points collected in a season, which is currently held by rivals Zamalek, who gathered 87 points in the 2013/2014 season.

The Reds, who have scored 70 league goals so far this season, are also just one goal away from breaking the record of most goals scored in a season, 71, which has been held by Tersana SC since the 1963/1964 season.
