The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) issued a warning late on Sunday of sandstorms, thunder and rain in Cairo and other governorates on Monday.

"The country will be affected tomorrow by unstable weather, with winds bearing sand and dust forecast in Cairo and northern Upper Egypt, as well as low clouds accompanied by rain fall," the statement read.

The unstable weather is expected to last until Thursday 3 May, according to the EMA.

The temperatures in degrees Celsius for Monday are as follows:

Cairo 38-23

Alexandria 31-18

Nile Delta 37-22

North Sinai 27-15

South Sinai: 33-24
