Egypt team director Ihab Leheta has revealed that Ahly duo Hossam Ashour and Walid Soliman and Ahly Jeddah winger Moemen Zakareya have been included in the provisional squad sent to FIFA for next month’s World Cup.

The three players were regular choices for coach Hector Cuper over the past months but were dropped from the 29-man list announced on Sunday.

"Hossam Ashour, Walid Soliman, Moemen Zakareya, Amer Amer (keeper), Amr Gamal (striker) and Hamada Tolba (defender) have been added to Egypt's 35-man provisional squad that was sent to FIFA.

They will not be travelling with the team for the upcoming matches but will be called on in case of emergency," Leheta told a press conference on Monday.

Cuper has included some surprise choices in his 29-man list, naming three uncapped players. Zamalek's midfielder Mahmoud Abdel-Aziz, his teammate Mahmoud "El-Wench" Hamdi, and Masry striker Ahmed Gomaa are set to have their first taste of international football.

The team will start its preparation camp on Tuesday 22 May before playing friendly games against Kuwait on 25 May, Colombia on 1 June and Belgium on 6 June.

The Argentinean tactician is set to announce his final 23-man list 10 days ahead of the tournament, which will start on 14 June.

The Pharaohs have been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Russia, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
