Egypt's railway authority has delayed a number of trips due to high temperatures on Sunday, the authority said in a statement.
The authority said that due to safety procedures some trains' speed have been reduced to a maximum 60km/h to prevent any possible dangers to passengers and railway traffic.
Highs ranging between 40C - 42C at highs are registered in Upper Egypt's governorates of Aswan, Qena, Assiut and Sohag on Sunday. Normal train speeds are to be resumed after temperatures return to normal ranges, said the authority, apologizing to passengers whose trips were delayed.
Nearly 5.3 million passengers travel by train in Egypt daily.
Egypt usually sees hot weather in the summer, with very high temperatures in Upper Egypt governorates, reaching over 50 degrees during the day in some areas.
