Last Saturday, Adriene Pinto told police that the Corinthians player accidentally fired his bodyguard’s gun when he was playing with it inside the car. No one else was hurt.
The incident occurred after Adriano, four women and his bodyguard left a night club in Rio’s Barra da Tijuca district.
Police inspector Fernando Reis told the Globo TV network that Pinto has recanted her earlier testimony and said she picked up the gun that was beneath the driver’s seat and was handling it when it accidentally went off.
It was unclear why Pinto gave differing accounts of the incident.
