Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulated his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron after Les Blues won the World Cup with a 4-2 victory against Croatia at Luzhniki Stadium in Russia.
This is the second time that France has won the World Cup; in 1998 French coach Didier Deschamps' side secured the trophy on home soil.
El-Sisi congratulated Macron for the team’s "distinguished performance" throughout the tournament, his spokesman Bassam Radi said on Monday.
