A bus crashed and flipped on the highway between Cairo and Port Said Sunday morning, close to Suez Canal City, Egypt’s health ministry announced.
According to ministry spokesman Khaled Megahed, in addition to ten fatalities, injuries range from concussion to fractures and abrasive wounds.
All the injured were moved to Port Said Hospital.
Deadly road accidents are not uncommon in Egypt and are mostly attributed to human error, inadequate car maintenance and poor road conditions, according to a report published earlier this year by Egypt's official statistics agency CAPMAS.
CAPMAS said in March, however, that the number of car accidents in the country dropped by 24.5 percent in 2017 to reach 11,098, down from 14,710 accidents the previous year.
