Egypt's railway authority is set to launch a mobile application for ticket booking in a few weeks' time, head of authority Ashraf Raslan said.
Unlike online booking which charges passengers an extra 4 percent to buy a ticket, the mobile application will not impose any extra fees, Raslan said in TV comments on Wednesday. It will also run commercial ads, he added.
The mobile app will be officially launched after the upcoming Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Adha, which ends on 23 August.
A trial version of the application is now available on the government's online rail ticket booking website.
