Vice Admiral Lisa Franchetti, commander of US 6th Fleet, said on Sunday the Egyptian Navy was an important partner of the US Navy in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, MENA reported.

Following a visit to Commander in Chief of the Navy Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Saeed in Alexandria on Sunday, Franchetti said strong relations between the two naval forces through teamwork.  

She also added that the two sides could guarantee regional security and stability and reflect a strong and sustainable partnership.

The visit took place ahead of participation in the USS Carney (DDG 64) Bright Star 2018 drills which aim at promoting regional security and stability.
