Egypt's Sisi oversees final session of Model Arab-African Summit, honors Mandela's grandson

Egypt's President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi oversaw on Monday the final session of Model Arab-African Summit held on the sidelines of the World Youth Forum in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The president said that the final communiqué of the Model Arab-African Summit will be sent to the African Union (AU) and the Arab League, as well as the Egyptian foreign ministry, which is responsible for preparing for Egypt's presidency of the AU next year.

The president expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted in this model summit, adding that he considers it an opportunity for decision-makers to benefit from its discussions and concluding statement.

President El-Sisi also honoured Zondwa Mandela, the grandson of late South African leader Nelson Mandela, on the sidelines of the Model Arab-African Summit.

Mandela said in a speech that the conference represents the future aspired to by Africans, and that Egypt, under the leadership of President El-Sisi, seeks to assure the whole world that it is open to investment and welcomes all Africans.

"I expect unity and solidarity will be achieved in Africa after Egypt won the presidency of the African Union,” he said.

President El-Sisi also honoured Sheikh Hamad bin Zayed, the son of late president of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

During a meeting with Sheikh bin Zayed, El-Sisi praised the UAE’s support for Egypt's development process.
