Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed illegal immigration and ways to combat it in Addis Ababa, Wednesday, with EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos, the Egyptian foreign ministry said.

The two officials discussed means of cooperation to address illegal immigration and Cairo's vision on the issue that includes social and development aspects as well as political instability and poverty, said foreign ministry spokesman Ahmed Hafiz.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings of the African Union extraordinary summit to be held later in the Ethiopian capital.
