Alexandria Port Authority (APA) decided on Saturday to keep two major ports in the Mediterranean governorate closed for a second day due to bad weather conditions.
The APA said the ports of Boughazi and Dekheila will remain closed. They were initially shut down on Friday after the Egyptian Meteorological Authority recorded a rise in waves and an increase in wind speed that might pose problems to maritime navigation.
It added that the decision was taken to save lives and protect ships, docks and cargo.
Meanwhile, the meteorological authority also announced that it expects more rainfall in Alexandria on Saturday.
High waves and heavy winds are expected to cause turbulent conditions in the Red Sea and the Mediterranean, the authority said.
Alexandria will witness a high of 21 degrees Celsius and a low of 12 on Monday, as winter rain continues to fall on the city.
