French Defence Minister Florence Parly said in a tweet on Tuesday that Egypt is a key partner in the fight against terrorism.

The minister's tweet came following her meeting with Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in Cairo on Monday on the sidelines of Egypt's first defence expo EDEX 2018.

"Egypt is a decisive partner for balance in the region and a key partner in our fight against terrorism," Parly's tweet read.

During their Monday meeting, both Parly and El-Sisi highlighted the importance of the strategic relations between Egypt and France, praising the cooperation between them in various fields, especially in the military field.

Parly attended on Monday EDEX 2018, and said that her country is proud of the participation of 31 French companies in the exhibition. EDEX 2018 is the first defence expo in Egypt, and is organised by the Egyptian Armed Forces under the auspices of the President El-Sisi.

Egypt has been fighting terrorism through its 'Operation Sinai 2018' military campaign, which was launched in February 2018.
