Egypt's defence minister meets US homeland security secretary

Egypt's Defence Minister General Mohamed Zaki held on Monday a meeting with visiting US Secretary of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen, the Egyptian armed forces announced.

According to the statement, General Zaki and Nielsen discussed issues of mutual concern as well as the latest developments in the region.

The talks between them also focused on boosting cooperation between the two countries in the fields of security, exchange of information and combating transnational crimes.

Zaki praised high-level coordination between Egypt and the US in the military and security domains.

Nielsen, meanwhile, stressed the depth of relations between the two countries in different fields.
