Two Egyptian films, Diamond Dust and Karma, are being screened at the 1st edition of the Casablanca Arab Film Festival, Morocco, which runs 10-15 December.

In its first edition, the Casablanca Arab Film Festival comprises three sections: the official competition, Arab Panorama, and Moroccan Panorama.

Diamond Dust, which is directed by Marwan Hamed, is included in the festival's official competition with other seven films from Arab countries. 

The film follows a man who works in a pharmacy as a part time job to make ends meet. He finds out that his father was killed by a villain and seeks to avenge him, unlocking a gateway into the world of crime.

Diamond Dust's cast includes Asser Yassine, Ezzat El-Alaily, Menna Shalaby, Bayyumy Fouad, Maged El-Kedwany, and Mohamed Mamdouh.

The film was released by New Century Production during Eid El-Adha holiday in August.

"The film grossed about EGP 32 million, including EGP 9 million in its first week," the film's distributor, MAD Solutions, said.

The film screened at the Khartoum Arab Film Festival in Sudan in October.

Karma, meanwhile, is screened out of competition in the festival's Arab Panorama section, which is showcasing a total of eight films from Arab countries.

The feature drama is directed by Khaled Youssef and stars Ghadah Abdulrazeq, Wafaa Amer and Maged El-Masri.

Karma deals with the relationship between Muslims and Christians, through the story of a young Muslim who falls in love with a Christian girl and marries her despite the objection of all those around him.
