Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Antonio Vitorino said Tuesday Egypt offers a great model of dealing with immigrants and refugees.
Addressing a press conference in Cairo, Vitorino added that Egyptian expats also show readiness to integrate in their new communities.
He thanked the Egyptian government for its continued commitment to welcoming migrants and refugees and helping them integrate into a diverse society, despite challenges sometimes posed by their large numbers.
The IOM will remain committed to fully supporting the Egyptian government in its strategy of benefiting from migration as a tool that should contribute to the development of the country, Vitorino said.
While meeting the IOM chief, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly highlighted that Egypt hosts more than five million refugees in Egypt from 58 different countries.
