The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has moved up the date of the meeting to decide the host the 2019 African Cup of Nations forward to Tuesday 8 January instead of Wednesday.
In a statement sent to the media, the African football governing body said that the executive committee will hold its meeting on Tuesday in the Senegalese capital Dakar at 8:30am GMT, without giving reasons.
A press conference will follow immediately after the meeting to announce the outcome.
Last December, Cameroon was stripped of the right to host the 2019 African Cup of Nations due to both serious delays in its preparations for the cup and the persistence of a violent separatist uprising near two of the planned venues.
Following the decision on stripping the West African nation of the right to host, CAF opened a new bidding process.
Egypt and South Africa were the only two countries to submitt their candidacy to become 2019 host.
Egypt last organized the prestigious African tournament in 2006, while South Africa organized the 2013 edition.
Meanwhile, CAF gave Cameroon the right to host the 2021 African Cup of Nations in hopes that its preparations will be completed by then.
This year’s edition has seen major innovations, with the tournament expanded to 24 teams up from 16, and moved to a summer schedule instead of its former January-February calendar.
