Zamalek announced on Thursday that the team's winger Mostafa Fathi will be sidelined for around three months due to a knee injury.

The 24-year-old has been out of action since last January when he left the pitch after picking up a knee injury during Zamalek's 3-1 win over Ittihad of Alexandria in a league game.

He travelled for Germany on Tuesday for further investigations and doctors revealed on Thursday that he will not undergo surgery, but he needs around three months of treatment.

Fathi returned to Zamalek in the summer after spending the last season on loan with Saudi side Al-Taaowon.

He made eight appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and providing two assists.

Zamalek are leading the league table with 52 points, four points ahead of second placed Ahly and Pyramids FC.
