Alexandria's Borg El-Arab Stadium will be ready to host the anticipated Egyptian league derby between Cairo rivals Ahly and Zamalek later this month, according to Amer Hussein, the head of competitions' committee at the Egyptian Football Association (EFA).

"Borg El-Arab Stadium will be ready to host the derby on 30 March," Hussien was quoted as saying by the EFA's official Twitter account on Tuesday.

"The league match between Smouha and Wadi Degla will be played on 29 March at Haras El-Hodoud Stadium instead of Borg El-Arab to get the latter ready for the derby," he added.

EFA board member Ahmed Megahed had hinted on Monday that the postponed league match (from week 17) between Ahly and Zamalek would be moved from the Alexandria stadium to the capital due to the pitch's bad condition, but the EFA ruled out this possibility.

Zamalek currently lead the Egyptian Premier League table with 52 points from 21 matches, one point ahead of champions Ahly, who played one match more.
