Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan toured on Thursday the under-construction New El-Alamein City on Egypt's North Coast, according to presidency spokesperson Bassam Rady.

President El-Sisi received bin Zayed, who is also the Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE's Armed Forces, on Wednesday at Borg El-Arab airport in Alexandria.

On Thursday, El-Sisi and bin Zayed toured a 14-kilometre area where residential and tourist towers, recreation areas, and a port for touristic yachts are being constructed.

Bin Zayed said he is impressed with the speed at which Egypt is progressing in implementing a number of national mega projects, including New El-Alamien City and the New Administrative Capital, which are contributing to achieving a developmental and administrative leap in the country.

New El-Alamein City is located some 110km west of Alexandria on 50,000 feddans.

It is designed to accommodate more than 3 million inhabitants and serve as a summer resort.

El-Sisi and bin Zayed also visited the El-Alamien Military Museum, which commemorates the World War II Battle of El-Alamien.

During their talks on Wednesday, the Egyptian president and the Abu Dhabi crown prince discussed development and economic and political cooperation, and called for greater cooperation to combat threats to Arab countries, including interference in their internal affairs.

El-Sisi and the crown prince stressed the importance of continuing "coordination and consultation to address the challenges facing the Arab nation and to reject interference in the internal affairs of Arab countries, which threatens the stability and security of their peoples."
