Dancer Georgia Begbie will hold an open studio event at Townhouse Gallery, where she is artist-in-residence, on 29 May.
The event, titled Sign Here, will start with the artist showing a part of the performance she has been working on during her one-month residency.
It will be followed by a talk with the artist about her project and her work process.
Begbie has been doing research on how the physical body can express signs, distort space and interpret its own signs.
Her performance emerges from the space between the signs that are being pointed to, and our interpretation and understanding of them.
"By making sense of signs we shape our own reality," her statement reads.
Begbie is a 2018 graduate of the Fontys School of Arts in Tilburg in the Netherlands, where she studied Dance Arts in Context.
In her final year she was an intern dancer with Dutch-based choreographers including Marina Mascarell, Guilherme Miotto and The100Hands.
She then joined the La Trottier Dance Collective in Germany and worked with Canadian choreographer Eric Trottier on their most recent production titled 1,618033.
