Veteran Hossam Hassan has renewed his contract as coach of Egyptian Premier League outfit Smouha for another season, the Alexandria-based club announced on Saturday.

"Hossam Hassan and his twin Ibrahim Hassan [the football director] will remain in charge of the team in the coming 2019/2020 season," read a statement on the club's official Facebook page.

Hassan was appointed as Smouha's fourth coach of the season late on, just one month after the former Ahly and Zamalek star was fired from his post as Pyramids FC coach after a 3-3 draw with league leaders Zamalek.

Under Hassan, 52, Smouha ensured a place in the top-flight league next season following their victory over rivals Petrojet in their last league match.

Smouha are currently tenth in the Egyptian Premier League table with 36 points from 33 matches, 36 points behind leaders Ahly, who still have one match in hand.

The coastal side, Smouha, is the eighth club in the managerial career of Hassan, Egypt's all-time leading scorer, after Masry, Telecom Egypt, Zamalek, Ismaily, Maqassa, Ittihad of Alexandria and Pyramids.
