Egyptian comedy play Abou Kabsoula will return for a second season at the Bayram El-Tunisi theatre in Alexandria for Eid Al-Fitr, which starts on Tuesday.

The commercially successful show, produced by Egyptian Artistic Theatre House, stars promising young comedian Mostafa Abo-Sriea and is directed by Mohamed Morsi.

The play is about a series of events that happen to an inventor after he comes up with a capsule that gets rid of hunger.

Abou-Sriea, who has caught the public’s attention after recent appearances in a number of TV shows and films, also wrote the lyrics for the play’s songs, which were composed by Karim Arafa and arranged by Ayman El-Turki.

The cast is mainly drawn from an Alexandrian theatre group.

A couple of VIPs saw the play during its first run last summer, including Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem and the manager of the Creativity Centre Khaled Galal.

There has been a lot of activity in Egyptian theatre in recent months, including hits such as Yehia El-Fakharany's King Lear and Mohamed Henedy's Talaat Ayam Fil Sahel (“Three Days on the North Coast”).

Programme:
Seven days a week, 9pm
Bayram El-Tunisi Theatre, Alexandria
