The Supreme Council for Media Regulation denounced on Wednesday a terrorist attack that targeted a security checkpoint in the city of El-Arish in North Sinai.

The attack, which took place earlier in the day, left eight policemen dead.

The council said in a statement that such attacks will increase the determination of Egypt’s government, army and people to eliminate terrorism.

Head of the council Makram Mohamed Ahmed urged all media outlets to stick to the official statements issued by official security bodies in their coverage of any terrorist attacks.
