Sherlter Art Space will have its debut exhibition on 15 June as it opens in Alexandria with a group show co-curated by Cairo's Soma Art Gallery.
The exhibition titled "al-əg-ZAN-dree-ə" will include the works of 12 artists from Alexandria, several of which are mid-career or established artists, working across different mediums from photography to painting, sculpture and installations.
The artists are Aya Tarek, Hani Mahfouz, Khoshoua Elgohary, Marianne Fahmy, Mohamed Sabry Bastawy, Nada Elkalaawy, Nadia Mounier, Naguib Moein, Nazir Tanbouli, Shadwa Ali, Shady Habiba and Therese Antoine.
Shelter is an arts space developed by SIGMA Properties, restoring and re-purposing an old rundown bunker into an art space hoping to offer a dynamic programme of contemporary visual and performing arts, workshops and talks.
