Ismaily's in-form central defender Baher El-Mohamadi is one of coach Javier Aguirre's additions to Egypt squad.

He only launched his international career on 8 September, 2018 in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger, impressing on his debut.

El-Mohamadi, a product of Ismaily's youth system, established a solid partnership with key defender Ahmed Hegazi in Egypt's central defence.

The 22-year-old showed great awareness and confidence to quickly settle in. He became a regular choice for Aguirre, playing five games and scoring once in a 3-2 home win over Tunisia in the final game of the Nations Cup qualifiers.

El-Mohamadi featured in 35 games for Ismaily this season in all competitions and has given his coaches several options, given that he can also play as a right-back. However, he is likely to be deployed in a central role in the Nations Cup.
