Two US tourists and their guide kidnapped in Sinai released on Friday unharmed after hours of kidnap

The two female American tourists and their Egyptian tour guide, who were kidnapped in Sharm El-Sheikh on Friday, were released unharmed after several hours, according to security officials.

According to MENA newsagency, Tourism Minister Munir Fakhry Abd El-Nur confirmed that the three were in good health and that they have not been mistreated.

Masked gunmen had held up the tourists' bus at Wadi al-Soal in southern Sinai en route from of St. Catherine to Sharm el-Sheikh. Authorities had spent several hours negotiating with kidnappers Salem Atwa and Salem Abu Khoshb, who were demanding the release of Khoshb's two sons, in jail on drugs charges, a security official told AFP.
