Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has ordered a team be formed to outline steps to implement the Golden Triangle – a development project meant to serve three governorates.
The team should make use of a study prepared by an Italian consultancy house to develop and benefit from this area, PM Madbouly said in a meeting Sunday.
The Golden Triangle project, which is expected to attract investments worth billions of dollars, is planned to stretch from outskirts of Qena and Sohag along the Nile, across the mountains to the Red Sea ports of Safaga, Hamrawein and Abu Tartour.
Meanwhile, Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker, who attended the meeting, said power lines will be extended to the area of the project by the end of this year.
The infrastructure is there, said Red Sea Governor Ahmed Abdullah, noting that this should encourage investments in that area, which also has ports and airports.
Development projects can very well be implemented there, Abdullah added.
