Egyptian stocks slipped in Monday trade as violence returned to the country's streets, the benchmark EGX30 falling 1 per cent to close at 4,539 points.
The exchange was closed on Sunday as part of a national holiday marking the Prophet Mohammed's birthday.
Total turnover on Monday reached LE337 million ($56.2 million), with 137 shares losing value and just 25 gaining.
