Egyptian champions Ahly released out-of-favour winger Ahmed Hamoudi on Tuesday as they continued their policy of offloading fringe players in the close season.

Former Basel man Hamoudi, 29, has struggled to hold down a regular place since joining Ahly from Saudi Arabia's Al-Batin in January 2017.

"Hamoudi's contract was terminated by mutual consent," Ahly said in a brief statement on their official website.

Hamoudi is the eighth fringe player to be offloaded by Ahly in the summer.

Central defender Mohamed Naguib, midfielder Amr Barakat and winger Islam Mohareb have all joined Gouna, who also turned the loan deals of Ahly duo Ahmed Rayyan and Akram Tawfik into permanent ones.

Playmaker Nasser Maher and defender Ahmed Alaa moved to Smouha and Talae El-Geish on loan deals respectively.

Ahly have signed three players in the summer -- Ismaily defender Mahmoud Metwalli, Enppi playmaker Magdi Afsha and Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng. They also extended the loan of Huddersfield Town winger Ramadan Sobhi for another season.
