Egypt reach final of U-19 World Handball Championship
Egypt made history by reaching the final of the men's U-19 World Handball Championship for the first time following a 41-36 victory over Portugal in the semis on Saturday.
Although Portugal dominated the opening quarter, Egypt stormed back to grab a 20-19 lead at halftime.
In the second period, the young Pharaohs widened the gap after producing another vivid display to qualify for their first ever final.
They went one step better than Egypt's U-21 team, who clinched bronze medal at the World Championship last month by beating Portugal 37-27 in the third-place playoff.
The U-19 team never managed to get past the quarter finals and their best result was at the 2007 and 2011 World Youth Championships when they finished fifth.
Egypt will face the winners of the other semi-final clash between Germany and Denmark in Sunday's final.
