European Union economic affairs commissioner Olli Rehn slammed on Monday the "unacceptable" violence seen on the streets of Athens ahead of a parliamentary vote on a new round of austerity measures.
"These individuals do not represent the vast majority of Greek citizens who are genuinely concerned for the future of their country," Rehn said in a statement released after he addressed a Brussels news conference.
