Egypt's Sisi discusses progress at Dabaa nuclear plant with top officials

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met on Sunday with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Electricity Minister Mohamed Shaker to discuss the latest developments of the Dabaa nuclear power plant, the Egyptian presidency said in a statement.

The president ordered security and safety measures to be maintained at all construction phases of the project.

Nuclear power will be important to generate electricity in Egypt in the future, El-Sisi said.

President El-Sisi also ordered stepping up efforts to complete technical and legal measures necessary for constructing the Dabaa nuclear power plant as soon as possible.

The meeting also dealt with the establishment of the electricity infrastructure network in the New Administrative Capital.

For his part, the electricity minister said efforts are underway to prepare the site of the Dabaa nuclear power plant and complete its infrastructure.

Shaker also spoke of a project to feed the New Administrative Capital with a high-voltage underground cable system, the first of its kind in the Middle East and Africa.

The meeting was attended by chairman of the Nuclear Power Plant Authority Amgad El-Wakeel.
