April 6 Youth Movement preps for first internal elections

Politically influential group announces first ever elections for director, beginning with regional polls across Egypt's governorates

Leading activists, Apri 6 Youth Movement released a statement Saturday afternoon announcing they will begin gearing up for their first internal elections for the movement's director.

The first step in the elections process for the top post of Coordinator General will be to hold regional elections in each of their units across Egypt's governorates. Final elections will be held on 6 April 2012.

Currently, the April 6 Youth Movement is headed by Ahmed Maher.

The group was formed in 2008 and has since played a key role in the country's internal politics.
