Egyptian Sheikh of Aragouz Players Amm Saber
Egyptian puppet artist Mostafa Othman, also known as Saber El-Masry or the Sheikh of Aragouz Players, passed away on Monday at the age of 72.
The multi-award winner spent almost all of his life working to revive the deep-rooted heritage of the Egyptian funny puppet 'Aragouz' in mouled ceremonies and stage performances.
He was a member of the Wamda troupe, which has been dedicated to reviving and renewing the art of Aragouz and shadow puppets since its founding by professor Nabil Bahgat in 2003.
Since then, Othman toured internationally, receiving awards in Tunisia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, France, Greece and Egypt for his creative work.
