Egypt's Nour El Sherbini and Hania El Hammamy advanced to the quarterfinal of the PSA Women's World Championship that place in Egypt from 24 October to 1 November.

Defending Champions and World number 2 El Sherbini eased past Joshna Chinappa 3-0 (11-5, 11-3, 11-6) in the round of 16 to set up a meeting with World number 6 Joelle King of New Zealand on Wednesday.

“I’m really happy with my performance and it’s my first tournament so I’m just trying to get back playing more and try to feel the game more. I’m really happy that I managed to win 3-0," El Sherbini said after the game.

“I think I felt sharper tonight. I’m getting better every match and I’m more confident. I’m really happy to be in the quarters and I’m looking forward to the next round.

“Joelle is very tough and one of the best players on tour. It’s always a tough match against her, but I’m really looking forward to it and I can’t wait to get back on court.”

Earlier in the day El Hammamy defeated Sivasangari Subramaniam of Malaysia 3-1 (11-8, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9) in 53 minutes to secure her first ever quarter final berth.

"I’m so pleased that I got through this match. I was a little bit nervous at the beginning of the match. We have played so many time throughout our junior careers and I’m sure we’re going to have a lot more matches on the PSA Tour," 19-year old El Hammamy said after the game.

"I know that Siva likes to hold and make the opponent run all over the court, so I wanted to keep my shots tight and push her into the back corners. I ran out of my plan a little bit in the middle of the match, but I’m glad I managed to win.

"It feels great to have my family, friends and coaches all by my side. I’m looking forward to my next match and hopefully I can keep going."

El Hammamy will face World number 3 Camille Serme of France who defeated Egyptian player Yathreb Adel 3-0.

On Sunday three Egyptians had already secured their qualification to the quarterfinal as world number 1 Raneem El Welily will face world number 5 Nour El Tayeb in an all Egyptian contest on Tuesday while Nouran Gohar will take on Sarah-Jane Perry of England.
