Egyptian national team winger Mahmoud “Trezeguet” Hassan has expressed his pleasure with scoring his first goal with Aston Villa during the 2-1 loss to Liverpool in the English Premier League on Saturday.

The 25-year-old opened his Aston Villa scoring account when he found the net in the 21st minute, sneaking behind the defence to volley a floated free kick between the legs of Brazilian keeper Alisson and into the net.

"It was a tough game against the table's leader Liverpool, as we were close to snatching the victory but they managed to win in the last five minutes," Trezeguet told a television programme after the game.

"Liverpool are competing for the league's title so they make use of any mistake from their opponents, and we made some small mistakes."

Trezeguet was Villa's liveliest performer throughout, with his tireless runs down the left providing great help for the hosts at both ends of the pitch.

"It is the most important time for me during the season when I scored my first goal in the English Premier League in the nets' of a great team like Liverpool.

The former Ahly player made his long-awaited move to the Premier League this summer after impressing with Turkey's Kasimpasa, where he scored 25 goals in 71 appearances.

Liverpool are in the driver's seat of the English Premier League team table with 31 points, while Aston Villa are in 16th place with 11 points after playing 11 games so far this season.
