Tony West, senior vice president of Uber, has lauded the current partnership with Egypt, noting that Egypt was one of the most important markets for the US-based ride-sharing company in the Middle East.

West met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and investment minister Sahar Nasr on Monday.

West reiterated that some 200,000 Egyptians were working with Uber, stressing that the corporation aims to enhance its presence in Egypt with a view to turning Cairo into a regional hub for its ride-sharing business.

Madbouly lauded Uber investments in Egypt, appreciating the corporation’s immediate response to a call by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to launch “Uber Bus” service, which is applied for the first time worldwide.
