Etoile du Sahel's newly-appointed coach Juan Carlos Garrido said on Tuesday that his side's upcoming clash against Ahly in the Champions League would be "important but not decisive", adding that his current target is to build a new team capable of competing for all titles.

The Tunisian side will host Ahly in the group stage opener on 29 November.

The Spanish coach had a previous experience with Ahly in 2014, guiding the Red Devils to the Egyptian Super Cup and Confederation Cup titles. He was fired later due to the team's poor results in the domestic league after spending ten months with the club.

"Ahly's clash will be so important but not decisive," Garrido told a news conference in Tunisia on Tuesday.

"The Egyptian side is a good team but the game's result will not be decisive as it's makes only one part of six group stage games.

"My target is to build a new team capable of challenging in all competitions," he added.

Struggling outfit Etoile du Sahel made a poor start to the season as they lie seventh in the league table.

They were eliminated from the Arab Cup after losing to Jordanian side Shabab Al-Ordon 3-1 on aggregate.

Etoile du Sahel will face Ahly with a limited squad as the team was hit with a number of injuries.

Ahly and Etoile were included in Group B along with Sudanese side Al-Hilal and Platinum of Zimbabwe.
