Egypt's transport minister discusses ongoing, future joint projects with World Bank

Transport Minister Kamel El-Wazir discussed with a delegation from the World Bank (WB) the status of the ongoing joint projects and a number of the future proposed others.

The minister asserted the importance of cooperation with the WB in various sectors including railway, underground and the land and maritime transport domains, said a statement by the Transport Ministry on Friday.

The WB delegation asserted that the bank is committed to backing Egypt's efforts to develop the transport sector.

El-Wazir reviewed work progress at the projects financed by the bank including a project to upgrade the railway signaling systems.

The two sides agreed to work to increase the number of companies working in the field of developing the railway tracks.

Meanwhile, the bank reviewed a new cooperation project to jointly implement a program in the green sustainable and comprehensive transportation field.
