Talae El-Gaish stunned Zamalek 3-2 at home on Monday to grab their first victory of the season.

Goals from Mohamed Shehata, Nasser Mansi and Ahmed Samir wrapped up the victory for the military side while Mostafa Mohamed and Karim Bambou scored the Whites consolation goals.

The victory takes El-Gaish away from the danger zone to the 12th place with 7 points after seven games.

After three straight victories, Patrice Carteron's winning debut came to an end as Zamalek dropped to the fourth place with 13 points, five behind leaders Ahly who have a game in hand.

Early threat

Karim Tarek had a golden opportunity to break the deadlock after just 30 seconds when he intercepted a poor pass from keeper Mohamed Awaad on the edge of the area but his shot was deflected into a corner by defender Mahmoud Alaa.

A minute later, Tarek redeemed himself as he slalomed into the area before sending an excellent pass for Shehata to finish into an empty net.

Zamalek pressed forward after that stunning start but failed to carve any spaces in Talae El-Gaish's compact defence.

The hosts seemed more threatening on the counter as Nasser Mansi and Tarek squandered a couple of opportunities to double their lead.

In the 35th minute Egypt's rising striker Mostafa Mohamed equalized with a trademark header past international keeper Mohamed Bassam following a cross from Youssef "Obama" Ibrahim at the far post.

Mansi restored Talae El-Gaish's lead only six minutes later from inside the box after poor defending from the Whites.

Two goals and a penalty

Assem Salah wasted a golden opportunity to extend the hosts lead as his penalty kick was blocked by Awaad early in the second half.

But again Talae El-Gaish exploited Zamalek's vulnerability at the back when an unmarked Samir headed home the third from close range following a cross from Salah.

Zamalek pulled one back from second half substitute Karim Bambou as he connected with a cross from Obama but that was not enough to get them anything out of this game.
