Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah helped Liverpool beat Leicester City 4-0 at King Power Stadium on Thursday to open a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League.

Salah, who had just won the best player at the Club World Cup, started the game but couldn't find the net until he was substituted in the 69th minute of the game.

Firmino scored twice while James Milner and Trent Alexander-Arnold completed the rout.

Earlier in the day, Ahmed Elmohamady and Mahmoud "Trezeguet" Hassan helped Aston Villa beat Norwich City 1-0 to continue their quest to get away from the danger zone.

Elmohamady started for The Villans for the 5th time of the season while Trezeguet started on the left flank.

Conor Hourihane scored the only goal of the game in the 64th minute to earn his team three valuable points.

Aston Villa are 18th on the 20-team table with 18 points, just one point behind West Ham, who are just above the relegation zone.

In the Championship, Egypt defender Ahmed Hegazi has been restored to the West Bromwich team after being excluded last week due to a "training ground incident."

The Pharaohs defender is reportedly frustrated by his lack of playing time, as he only featured in four games totaling 246 minutes.

The 28-year-old towering defender was in the starting lineup for the first time since 19 October, but the team was frustrated by a late draw by Barnsley 1-1.

The Baggies are leading the Championship table with 51 points after 24 games.

Later on Thursday, Mohamed Salah is expected to feature for Liverpool when they take on Leicester City.
