Egypt's Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Khaled Abdel-Ghafar has announced that a programme will be launched for the manufacturing of small satellites in universities in a cooperative effort between the Egyptian Space Agency (ESA), the Academy for Scientific Research and Technology (ASR) and the Supreme Council of Universities.
The minister made the announcement on Monday while chairing the first meeting of the ESA board in the presence of CEO of the ESA Mohamed El-Qosi.
Abdel-Ghafar said the ministry will receive on Tuesday a high-level delegation from the French Space Agency to discuss cooperation between the two countries in the field of space technology. He added that Egypt and France will sign a memorandum of understanding in this regard.
He also said the higher education ministry is keen on providing all possible help to support the ESA, asserting that Egypt has all potential and scientific cadres to develop space technology and build and launch small satellites.
