Egypt's Air Force on Monday carried out a number of reconnaissance missions to secure troops taking part in the "Qader 2020" manoeuvres, the Egyptian Armed Forces said on Monday.

Troops from the naval and air defence forces, as well as commandos, aiming at securing the Mediterranean Sea coast and targeting terrorist hotbeds, participated in the ongoing military exercises in the North Coast, continued the statement.

The Western Military Region also conducted a number of drills in cooperation with border guards to secure the country's western land and coastal borders.

Last week, Egypt's naval forces carried out a full amphibious operation in the Mediterranean involving a mistral helicopter carrier, Gowind- and Perry-class frigates, a missile launcher ship, and a German-made Type-209 submarine, in addition to a number of anti-submarine units and special naval forces.
