The Bahrain Film Festival announced this week that Egyptian star actress Laila Eloui will head the jury of the feature film competition for the first run of the event taking place in March.
The festival, organised by the Bahrain Film Club, told Reuters they selected the 58-year-old actress "due to her extensive experience in the cinema field as well as her experience in leading jury committees in international Gulf and Arab festivals."
The jury will also includes Saudi actor Ibrahim Al-Hassawi and Bahraini critic Amin Saleh.
The festival, which will also hold competitions for student films and documentaries, is being held on the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Bahrain Film Club.
Born in 1962, Eloui has starred in over 70 films, sharing the screen with almost all of the most famous Egyptian actors like Adel Imam, Ahmed Zaki and Farid Shawky under the helm of dozens of directors including the great Youssef Chahine.
