Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamed Manar received on Saturday EgyptAir's first Airbus A320Neo, arriving at Cairo International Airport from France.

According to a ministry statement, the A320Neo is among 15 aircraft scheduled for delivery to EgyptAir. The 15 planes include eight Airbus A320Neo aircraft and seven Airbus A321Neo.

With the operation of the newly-received aircraft, EgyptAir becomes the first company to operate both the Airbus A320Neo and Airbus A220 modern aircraft in its fleet in the Middle East and Africa, the statement noted.

Last month, EgyptAir received its eighth Airbus A220-300 to join the company's fleet.

The reception ceremony of the plane was attended by Manar, Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation Montasser Mannaa, Chairman of EgyptAir Holding Company Ahmed Adel, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EgyptAir Airlines Ashraf El-Khouly.

Manar emphasised that EgyptAir's fleet upgrade is part of a scheme to develop the civil aviation sector, especially in light of the interest of the political leadership and government in intensifying efforts to advance the sector.
