The Egyptian Ministry of Culture has cancelled all state cultural and artistic activities due to the official mourning declared for former president Hosni Mubarak.

The stoppage includes a wide variety of art forms at different venues connected with the ministry, and will remain in place until sunset on Friday.

The presidency, the armed forces and the parliament have all issued statements mourning the former president, who passed away at a Cairo hospital on Tuesday aged 91 after a period of ill health.
